Market Hall Rotterdam

Covered market

First of all, the Market Hall is a residential and office building with a market hall underneath, located in Rotterdam. The building opened on October 1 2014 and was opened by Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. The complex houses 228 apartments, 4500 m2 retail space, 1600 m2 horeca and an underground parking garage for all the cars. The gray stone building has an arch shape, like a horseshoe.  Each facade has 26 vertical and 22 horizontal cables.

The inner hall of the Market Hall Rotterdam has the same size as about two football fields with beautiful artwork of Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam, titled Horn of Plenty. This title refers to a horn from Greek mythology that symbolizes abundance and saturation. The artwork shows strongly enlarged foods, flowers and insects.
